[10:05] Your Health is Your Wealth ·       Conventional medicine in America is often called "health care," but it's "sick care" because it only focuses on treating symptoms and doesn't teach people how to be healthy. ·       Wake Up and Aikido camp teaches people how to be healthy and is an example of health care. ·       Eating clean and caring for your body is important for optimal health and can lead to a smaller, less leaky gut with fewer toxins seeping through. ·       It's okay to occasionally eat less healthy foods if your gut is healthy and able to handle it. ·       The goal is progress, not perfection, and developing metabolic flexibility is important for long-term health. [17:15] What to Look For When Buying Red Meat  ·       Labels on meat products can be misleading and is often a selling tactic. ·       Consumers should be aware of the terms used, such as "natural," "no hormones," "no antibiotics," "grass-fed," "vegetarian fed," etc. ·       Most cows are fed inflammatory foods like grains, which can lead to health problems for the cows and the consumers who eat their meat. ·       Some cows are even fed candy bars to fatten them up for more profit. ·       High-quality meat is important for better nutrition and anti-inflammatory properties. ·       Grass-fed and finished is the best option, as it means the cow has eaten grass from start to finish of its life. [22:05] The Worst Artificial Sweeteners vs The Best Sugar Replacements Some inflammatory artificial sweeteners are sucralose and brown rice syrup. At the same time, some recommended sugar replacements are Coconut Sugar (less refined, lower glycemic index), Pure Maple Syrup, Non-GMO Monkfruit, Dates (and date syrup), and Raw Honey.  ·   Brown rice syrup may be perceived as healthy but is often found in products with other inflammatory ingredients. ·       The recommended sugar replacements are less refined and often have better nutritional value than artificial sweeteners. ·       Stevia is disliked due to the harsh chemicals used to extract it, which can cause gut disruption for some people. ·       Monk fruit is a better alternative, as it has a zero glycemic index and does not cause the same issues as stevia. ·   Many people have noticed positive digestion and overall health changes after eliminating stevia from their diets. [28:50] Is Oatmeal Actually Healthy For You? ·   Oats can be considered in the gray area of healthy foods due to their pros and cons. ·       Most oats are sprayed with glyphosate, a pesticide that promotes inflammation and can harm health. ·       Oats are high in phytic acid, an anti-nutrient that prevents the body from absorbing necessary nutrients. ·       Too much phytic acid can lead to gut issues, inflammation, arthritis, and brain fog. ·       Organic and sprouted oats are better options for consuming oats. [47:55] The Top 5 Most Commonly Asked Questions About Food Labels ·       Consume high-quality protein from grass-fed beef, mackerel, and fish instead of relying on protein bars. Read the labels on coffee creamers carefully and choose cleaner options like Three Trees almond milk, which contains only water and almonds, cashews, or walnuts. Eating real, whole foods to improve health and well-being. Notice how certain foods make you feel and adjust your diet accordingly. Liposomal vitamin C is better absorbed into the body and can be more effective than traditional vitamin C supplements. Many people avoid bread while dieting, but it's not necessary. However, calories do count. ·   It should work for you for a long time but as we age, our bodies change and what used to work isn’t going to do so forever. ·   What really matters the most is the nutrient density of what you eat. ·   Dixie firmly believes that our bodies and brains have hunger and satiety signals due to the endocrine system’s influence. ·   Counting calories is difficult because of all the mathematics involved. ·   When you think more about nourishment and pleasure through nourishment then you’re more focused on something that’s more sustainable and pleasurable. [14:46] Common Misconceptions on Losing Weight ·   You could be breaking down muscle if you’re doing too much cardio or excessive exercise due to your goals. ·   Metabolic meters lie to you regarding the calories you lost during workout. What’s showing you is what would you have burned with your basal metabolic rate sitting on the couch plus the additional calories burned. ·   The human body is not a math equation, a calculator, or a bank account. It’s a very complex and amazing chemistry lab. We all need to stop treating it like a calculator and start treating it as a beautiful creation. ·   If you can find something that you love and brings you joy, you’re going to get pleasure from it, and it’ll be a nice experience for you.  ·   A lot of people look at exercise as something they’ll have to suffer through just to burn calories. Because of that it’s going to be fleeting and not last very long.  [36:15] A Morning Routine to Own Your Day ·   If you wake up in bed and just start running through and think you have to do a lot of stuff, it basically turns your hormones on, such as Cortisol to start the day. ·   How you start your day should almost be a blueprint for how you want your day to go. ·   Dixie’s pro tip is to not put your phone in your bedroom. You can’t have a phone face indent. ·   Set your intention for the day. You’re not going to get it if you are looking at your cell phone the whole time. [45:08] The Nourishment Mindset & Cholesterol Paranoia Syndrome ·   Her favorite chapter is called CPS, cholesterol paranoia syndrome. ·   There are so many people walking around with side effects taking statins. The number needed to treat is insane. ·   Dixie isn’t saying statins should go away but there are also people who propose stagnating the water in certain countries. ·   She hopes that someone can just say that there’s another story to it because she believes that a lot of people are swallowing statin pills just for insurance. After that, she became a yo-yo dieter. She would try only to eat 1200 calories a day. However, this was making her processed food addiction worse. There are court documents that reveal companies took the tobacco addiction model and transferred it to sugar for children. It's not normal to think about food when you're not hungry. Americans think about food obsessively. After ditching processed foods, Dr. Ifland got rid of her brain fog, bloating, and a sinus infection. Plus, she was losing two pounds a week. Over 70% of the country in the US is now overweight or obese. Americans are deeply addicted to processed foods, and they don’t even know about it.  [12:25] You Need To Associate Processed Foods With The Pain You Feel Just because everyone is eating something, that doesn’t mean you should eat it too. You need to associate certain foods with the pain you feel from them. For instance, “I don’t eat that because it gives me a headache.” You want to retrain brain cells to associate foods with the pain you feel.   [16:55] You Can Addict Any Human To Any Substance If You Get Them Young Enough Smoking used to be the leading cause of preventable death globally. Now, diet-related diseases are the leading cause of death in the world. Smoking and diets are based on the same business model. The business model goes like this: Advertising Availability Affordability Young age of onset Hidden addictive product formulation The younger someone is when you addict them, the harder it will be for them to overcome the addiction. [32:20] Overeating Is An Addiction Done To You By The Food Industry It takes years to go to a social situation and not be bothered by people eating processed foods. The conformance tribe is significantly activated by food and by people you know well. The better you know a person, the more likely they will be able to trigger you into eating something bad. Overeating and diet-related diseases were done to you for profit by the food industry. [36:45] Free Donuts For Anyone Who Gets A Vaccine!   There is corruption in the pharmaceutical industry. 60% of Covid deaths are in people who have an underlying diet-related condition. People wouldn't have been able to eat enough processed foods to get a condition unless their addiction was driving them. The message to the world should have been about metabolic health. The addiction business model is also used by the pharmaceutical industry. [42:10] True or False: Sugar Addiction Is Not A Real Thing Dietitians are the “professional” arm of the processed food industry. The medical community is the marketing arm of the pharmaceutical industry. 40% of dietitians work for the processed food industry. If you’ve been to a conference for dietitians, they are sponsored by Kraft and Nabisco. Luckily, many dieticians are rebelling against processed foods. Processed food addictions are deliberately made worse by the food industry and the pharmaceutical industry. You need to go and ask for help to recover from your addiction. Also, you need to be really patient on your journey. Lastly, you need to incorporate healthy living into your life. [51:40] When Can You Start Eating Sugar Again?  People think that they will always want sugar. If you give up processed foods, then you will stop the cravings. Only 1% of the food in a grocery store is actually food. The rest of it is all drugs. Overall, Dr. Ifland says to have hope. [06:55] What can you do with dealing with criticism from other people? Candice had a lot of people cut her off and some people never bridged that gap, even certain family members. People are our mirrors, and how you present yourselves to one another reflects how you feel about yourself and your own journeys. If something makes us feel viscerally or strongly, it probably has more to do with us personally.  The most significant people in Candace’s life still care about her despite her choices. She can screw up and they won't leave her. It's unconditional love and acceptance. [12:36] Do what is right from your heart and put everything you say into action. Candice was making decisions based on fear like, she has to keep shooting because of the scarcity mindset that she had around finances, and not truly believing that she could be successful on her own. Regardless of what industry you work in, no matter who you work for, it takes you to make a big bold move to understand your own worth. [19:04] OnlyFans: An effective way to make money while still treating your body and yourself with respect. There are creators on there that are not explicit at all. There are comedians, cooks, and personal trainers. You can make it whatever you want. If you do want to.  There's probably 15-20 % that are operating aboveboard, but they're not trying to sell sex on any level. You can do it for whatever your business is, but if you are trying to do it even if it's not explicit, like bikini photos, or sexy glamour shots, it's a cool way to build an audience. You are 100% in control of what you show, what you shoot, and you own the content. [21:31] What does pornography actually do to your brain? Sex, porn, and gambling don't actually qualify as addictions if you actually have a brain scan and go through the list of criteria for what characterizes an addiction.  Most of the people that are using that terminology have a very religious and undertone agenda to it.  Don't look at it as a threat and use it as a tool to spice up your relationship. Sex and intimacy are inextricably connected. You have to work on intimacy. Men should do the work to still keep the romance within the relationship and women should also show up to be that sexy goddess.  Whether it's porn, rom-com, or erotica, it will become a problem if you bring that entertainment into your life with the idea that it should reflect your reality. Therefore, it comes down to open and honest communication, asking your partner what they want while also being open and receptive to it, without putting any pressure on them to be the star. By the time he was 42, Dr. Tom started to have vision problems. Tom had a cataract. An asymmetrical cataract in a 42-year-old guy is unusual. After doing some research, Dr. Tom saw that lead poisoning could trigger his health issues. When Dr. Tom tested himself for lead poisoning, he had the highest levels of lead that he had ever seen. Tom grew up one block from the Ford assembly line with no government regulations for heavy metal filtration.
