Settle in for the night and take a breath, Try to pull evening’s calm within. PAUSE… It can be so very difficult, To reach for what we want. To bend and stretch and push beyond The rigid lines we’ve drawn for ourselves. PAUSE… At first, it feels impossible, Like something will break or split. We fear the pain and stop too soon, Before change can truly take root. PAUSE… But staying the same is painful too, And sometimes we even lose ground. We close our eyes and look away, Then pay the price farther down the road. PAUSE… But why are we here, if not to change? Life itself means constant motion. From bones and cells to hearts and minds, Transformation is how we survive. Breathe in and think about how far you’ve come, and how much that journey means. Breathe out and imagine how far you could go, how much more you have waiting inside. LONG PAUSE… Stretching comes in different forms, Testing both body and mind. Sometimes it’s our choice, and sometimes not, But resistance shows up either way. PAUSE… Even if we want to change, Discomfort can make us worry. It can make the choice seem like a mistake, And send us running for an easier path. PAUSE… Escape is often the true dead-end, And hiding just makes us weak. No matter how tight our muscles feel, They yearn to do more than exist. PAUSE… Our promise lies not in what we do, But where we can go from there. So when we choose to hold our place, We miss out on whatever we might dare. PAUSE… There’s a secret you need to remember, A trick that might ease the way. When some part of you starts to protest the stretch, Just breathe and see it through. PAUSE… Like so many things in this world, The answer is not what you’d think. Rather than stopping when resistance shows up, Let your breath push it out of the way. PAUSE… Holding your course may be scary at first. It may make you feel ill at ease. But in the moment after you take that breath, Relief will come your way. PAUSE… The stretch will start to feel natural, Something you were meant to do all along. You may even crave another breath, A chance to push for even more. PAUSE… The only way out is through, they say, And that’s true of growth as well. There is no shortcut to strength or gain, You must put in the time to change. PAUSE… That change can begin with just one breath, One bold moment that causes a shift. From there, the stretch gets easier, As imagined obstacles fade. PAUSE… Once you learn to embrace the difficulty, Whether body, heart, or mind, You can breathe your way through other things, Finding freedom in the challenge. PAUSE… So practice now as you fall asleep. Push your thoughts away with your breath. Then sink into that fresh, clear space, And hold it open for serenity to come. PAUSE… You have the power to go anywhere, There are limitless paths to explore. But just like a stretch that makes your muscles ache, The journey will ask you for more. Your soul is home at last.  The haze of dreams, Swirl with stardust, The universe is so vast.  PAUSE… You are surrounded by darkness,  And speckles of light twinkle in the distance, A thousand diamonds against a black velvet sky. PAUSE… You feel weightless, as if the universe itself is cradling you gently in its embrace.  You are adrift in the cosmos,  The silence around you so complete, A cocoon of peace. PAUSE… As you float, you notice that your body is starting to relax.  Your limbs become loose and fluid,  Your breathing is slowing down.  Each inhale brings a deep sense of calm,  And each exhale releases any remaining tension. LONG PAUSE… Your body feels light, drifting effortlessly in the vast expanse of space.  You feel your muscles release all their tension as you become more and more relaxed. PAUSE… The stars around you are growing brighter, pulsing with energy.  The colors of the universe are vivid and intense,  Deep blues and purples swirling together in a cosmic dance. PAUSE… You feel yourself being drawn towards one of the stars,  And as you get closer, you see that it is surrounded by a halo of shimmering light.  You feel yourself being pulled into the center of this halo, and suddenly you are bathed in a warm, soothing glow. PAUSE… This light washes over you, filling you with a sense of peace and tranquility.  You feel your mind becoming calm, your thoughts slowing down until they become nothing more than a gentle whisper. Your body is weightless, and you can feel yourself slowly drifting away from your physical form.  You are becoming one with the universe, your soul merging with the stars and matter around you. LONG PAUSE… You are floating in space, adrift in the infinite expanse of the universe, a tiny speck in a vast and wondrous cosmos. Everything is exactly as it should be. Everything is perfect in this magical moment.  LONG PAUSE… Floating,  Floating,  Floating free. The cool damp grass,  Or the warmth of the paved neighborhood road,  Or the softness of the Earth.  PAUSE… Feel the gentle breeze brush upon your skin,  And your hands glide upon your clothes,  As you relax deeper and deeper.  LONG PAUSE… Now notice the scents of the night. The sweet aroma of the flowers,  The smell of rain upon the road,  The fragrance of dinner escaping from the homes.  PAUSE… Breathe it all in,  And let it warm you,  And relax you.  LONG PAUSE… Now imagine yourself opening your mouth,  And becoming aware of what you taste.   The sweet crispness of the night air,  The memories of the food you can still taste, The dryness or wetness of the air as it dances with your tongue.  PAUSE… Breathe deeper,  As you savor the flavors of the night.  LONG PAUSE… Your senses move you through,  The welcoming paths of your neighborhood. PAUSE… Let a deep sense of relaxation expand within,  While your muscles become loose and heavy, And your body melts into your bed.  PAUSE… Dig deep within your consciousness,  And visualize a specific wish or intention you may have.  PAUSE… Now imagine a simple affirmation that describes its essence.  This is what it’s called Sankalpa. PAUSE… Repeat the affirmation silently three times,  Feeling the importance of this desire. LONG PAUSE… Now come back into your body,  As we focus in on each part,  Bringing all of your attention to it,  Feeling that part soften and relax. PAUSE… We’ll begin on your right side.  Bring your attention to your thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, little finger, palm of your right hand, back of the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, upper arm, shoulder, armpit, waist, hip, thigh, knee, calf, ankle, heel, sole, top of the foot, right big toe, long toe, middle toe, fourth toe, pinky toe. PAUSE… Now the left side. Focus on your thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, little finger, the palm of your right hand, back of the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, upper arm, shoulder, armpit, waist, hip, thigh, knee, calf, ankle, heel, sole, top of the foot, right big toe, long toe, middle toe, fourth toe, pinky toe. PAUSE… Observe the right side of the back of your body, Heel, calf, thigh, butt, and shoulder blade.  Turn to the left side, Heel, calf, thigh, butt, shoulder blade.  Now onto the lower back, middle back, upper back, and entire spine. PAUSE… Become aware of the back of the neck, back of the head, top of the head, and forehead.  Move to the right side of your skull, temple, ear, eyebrow, eye, nostril, cheek. Now upper lip, lower lip, mouth.  Transition to the left side of your skull, temple, ear, eyebrow, eye, nostril, cheek. Focus on the chin, jaw, throat, upper abdomen, navel, and lower abdomen. Move to the right collarbone, right side of the chest, and right groin.  Move to the left collarbone, the left side of the chest, the left groin, and the pelvic area. Now focus on the right leg, left leg, right arm, left arm, your face, the whole head, the torso, and then your whole body. LONG PAUSE… Bring all your attention to the fresh air that flows through your body as you inhale. Then feel the warm air traveling through your nose as you exhale. Breathe… PAUSE… In synch with each breath,  Count down from 20, inhaling 20,  Exhaling 19,  Inhaling 18,  Exhaling 17,  And so on.  Take your time, staying calm and patient. If you lose count simply start again. LONG PAUSE…   Now it’s time to express your wish or Sankalpa. Tell me your wisdom, And how you can trust,  That all that you need you will reap.  PAUSE… Come close, my dear,  I hear the tree say, And wrap your arms around me. Feel the deep pulse, Of the divine,  Flowing wild and free.   PAUSE… The warmth from her trunk, The love from her leaves, Invite me to tune deeply in. I close my eyes shut,  My body is raw, My mind is clear from within.  PAUSE… The music I hear,  The magic I feel, Emanates from her at the core.  It’s all beautiful love,  No worries, no stress,  Peace like I’ve never felt before.  PAUSE… Breathe and tune in,  To the universal truth,  We’re love and energy.  Breathe and just feel, It all vibrate now, All life exists in a tree. LONG PAUSE… You gently release, And let the tears fall,  You see with brand new eyes.  The wonder, the joy, The sadness and pain,  Everything lives and then dies.  PAUSE… Now you can see,  The attachments and stress, Are not worth holding onto.  You can let love,  Flow endlessly through, And brighten all around you.  PAUSE… You look at the tree,  And see her deep love, And know you’re sisters now.  You hug her again,  And feel your heart fill,  You make a magnificent vow.  PAUSE… I am magic,  I am love,  I am deeply Divine.  All that’s around me,  Is also of god,  I’m part of Universal design.  PAUSE… No longer will I cower,  No longer will I fear,  No longer will I live my life small.  I’m here to give love,  In small and big ways, The tree of life is in us all.  PAUSE… Breathe her in,  And feel the big life,  That exists in her blooms and her bark.
