It's David's 50th birthday and TV Joe has come up with an idea for a special birthday surprise ep following David's pod life since Chatabix first started 3 years ago. David is overwhelmed when TV Joe takes him on a meandering journey down memory lane and plays him messages from old Chatabix guests including Neil Webster the Producer who fired him, Ben Rufus-Green from the Cockfields days, the OG weatherman Vyvyan Almond, the first ever pod guest Ed Gamble, the first ever surprise guest Dermot O'Leary, a boatload of Canal Thursday characters including Mr Taylor, Steve Coogan (ahem or is that the brilliant impressionist Terry Mynett), Rosie from Gigging Diaries, Steve Davis the snooker legend who waved to them at The Crucible and got them back stage at Blur, the one and only game show contestant Paul Gorton, Daniel the jingle maker from Eyes on Legs, Eastenders Natalie Cassidy with some ol'bollox, the actor Martin Freeman (who they still can't believe came on the pod), WW2 historian and bunker hunter Andrew Chatterton and David's sister with some podcast advice ! Even Honk the mole has sent in a message and Andy Goldstein makes a surprise appearance. What a day ! Joe and David catch up with their old mate comedian Roisin Conaty. While they wait for her they tell each other elephant jokes. Roisin kicks off by telling them about cold water swimming, getting the shits and losing her voice. After swapping loads of funny stories they start taking post-it notes off David’s pin board and talking about whatever is on it, this throws up some even funnier stories including being bullied into touching a stags antlers. They decide Roisin is a wise owl, Joe is an old soul and David is a kid at heart. Joe reminisces about when Roisin used to run a weird little gig in Westminster and he thought she worked for the government. Roisin talks about people having their lights on or off and explains the concept to David before asking them if they went to prison what crime would they have comitted. David and Joe get excited about the possibility of Joe getting his hair cut live on the pod by Nicky Clarke. Joe's been sent a Dry Robe after his visit to the Wave because he got so cold. David and Joe struggle to find anything to talk about and find themselves talking about the next ep as they can't find anything to talk about in the current ep. Clutching at straws, David shows Joe how he rides his Peloton but Joe finds watching it unbearable and begs him to stop. David carries on riding, bobbing up and down until Joe threatens to turn the camera off. They talk about old jobs they have had and David reminisces about working at a golf club and how many mistakes he made. Joe reminds David that he also worked on a gold course and can't believe that David can't remember this despite telling him 20 times. They compare swishing and green keeping stories and David recalls his boss telling him off for spilling diesel all over the green and killing the grass. Joe and David have another lovely little catch up with Fenners. Joe is still not comfortable calling him Fenners because he did it too early last time but David is very comfortable with it. Fenners updates Joe and David on his latest charity shop finds. And they all try and work out what Fenners eps can be about if he still wants to be a regular guest. And then they hit on an idea!!! Fenners is going to be the Chatabix fashion advisor. Each week Joe or David are going to tell Fenners what new item of clothing they fancy owning and Fenners is going to go hunting for it and hopefully bag them a bargain. Joe and David will try the item of clothing on and if its not quite right, back to bargain hunting he goes. They decide Fenners will have a 40 quid budget every week. It's Joe's turn for a surprise guest and he doesn't have a clue who is coming on. After a slightly anxious start, Joe turns away from the screen so he can't see who the guest is. When David tell's him to spin around in the spinny chair for the big reveal Joe doesn't recognise the person in front of him. This is understandable as the guest is not someone you'd recognise but is someone who started an amazing event that happens in 22 countries worldwide. When David reveals who it is, Joe is over the moon as it's someone he's always wanted to talk to about a subject close to his heart. They bed in for a lovely chat. Joe opens a flat looking parcel, it is a present from the Battle Of The Chatabands winner Mezz Coleman. Mezz has sent Joe her album so he can play it on the retro record player his wife Petra bought him for Christmas. He goes downstairs to play it but things get a bit awkward because the cleaner is in the kitchen. Joe beats a hasty retreat back upstairs to his office. Then David takes Joe on some metal detecting forums and they realise that all metal detectorists either sound like proper metal detectorists or professional golfers. After wondering if women have hobbies, Joe looks at one of his Petra's interior design magazines. They decide it would be nice to use Mezz's song to play them out but after playing it they carry on nattering and the song doesn’t really play them out at all. At last it has stopped raining so David can take Joe metal detecting. David goes to his his usual field and fires up the kit. Joe is loving it but to say its a slow start is an understatement. They realise they don't really know how the Garrett Pro Pointer works so Joe tries to read out the instructions for David as they go. Excitingly they get a hit and David digs and digs and digs and digs and digs and digs but NOTHING. So they start again which feels like a step back. But eventually they get another hit and believe it or not they find something incredible (a nut and bolt with an Allen Key top). This is just the beginning of David's hunt for gold. Comedy actress Lolly Adefope is on the pod. Joe and David are delighted to see her and they talk about popping round to her house unannounced and what that would be like. After chatting about what it was like all working together on David and Joe's discontinued sitcom Rovers they ask Lolly what it was like working on Ghosts, a sitcom that did get recommisioned multiple times. Lolly tells them how she cried on the last day of filming Ghosts and how much she loved working on it. They talk about Lolly being in Mission Impossible (as a typist) and doing a scene with Tom Cruise slamming into the window behind her. She tells them she is the same height as Tom and what a lovely man he is as he gave her a compliment. They make her recreate her audition piece on the pod while they watch and give her direction. Lolly asks them about Paul Gorton and The Traitors connection. After telling them about her new Superhero's project, Joe asks her what it's like to be flown to LA for filming. They worry they haven't made the most of the time with Lolly and have asked her too many silly billy questions.
