INTERVIEW: Vichara Edirisinghe from Astral People

In this week’s podcast, the Betoota Advocate interviews one of those rare Australians that are committed to hosting parties for a living. Joining the editors is Vichara Edirisinghe, a promoter and events guru who cut his teeth in the depraved nightclubs of post-Olympics Sydney. Vichara tells the story of forming his artist management and touring company Astral People in a pizza restaurant in 2011. He explains to The Betoota Advocate exactly what is holding Australia’s nightlife back, and how they’ve survived a culture of lockout laws and noise complaints, only to return to the fray in 2023 with their their iconic Summer Dance parties.
