#8 Finding your own way within the academia - Barry Fitzgerald

Barry Fitzgerald is a physicist, keynote speaker, author, speaker trainer, event host, and science communicator. Barry has seen the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War more than 50 times, and his superpower will remain a closely guarded secret.

Via his company BW Science, Barry has spoken around the world at schools, science festivals, and companies about the science of popular culture, in particular superheroes. He’s a regular speaker as part of Science Week Ireland, and also spoken at other national science festivals in Portugal and the Netherlands.

With his YouTube channel ‘The Superhero Scientist’, Barry shares educational videos on the science and engineering of superheroes, Star Wars, Santa Claus, and other topics.

He is also the author of three books including ‘Secrets of Superhero Science’ and ‘How to Build an Iron Man Suit’.

In addition to his freelance work, Barry is also a Science Communication Officer at the Eindhoven University of Technology.
