113: The Preventable Case of Chad Breinholt

On the day of August 23rd 2019 Michael Chad Breinholt showed up to his girlfriend’s work; although intoxicated, he also showed signs of severe mental distress. The police were called due to a concern with Chad’s overall state and well being. Chad was taken into custody. Despite numerous cries for help, Chad’s mental health was never assessed. As Chad himself was an advocate for mental health and addiction treatment, his story is a prime example of a desperate need for mental health awareness and appropriate treatment.
