092: Machine Head Overview/Sampler

After grunge all but sucked the life out of thrash while at its zenith in the early 90’s (I mean, it “didn’t”, but it also kinda “did”, y’know?), the landscape had been forever altered and “thrash metal” as we previously knew it had been forever transformed, now with greater attention to groove, swagger, and swing (and let’s not forget those sublimely sick breakdowns! HFS!!!).

While still employing the same rifftactical utility belt genius he used in his former band VIO-LENCE, thrash master ROBB FLYNN updated his first wave thrash palette with the groove and raw attitude of the day to forge his own aggro-groove-thrash creation with MACHINE HEAD, blazing a path forward into the “next wave” of American thrash like a welder’s torch set to 11.
