164: CLUTCH - Inside The Metal

“Hey, hey, have you read the news?”

For over 30 years, the mighty minstrels from Maryland known collectively as CLUTCH have been synthesizing sonic goodness that defies categorization, capturing all of the greatest nuances and attitude of 70’s classic rock from “The Days of Yore” and seamlessly blending that together with ingeniously crafted lyrical ciphers and modern-day stoner metal intensity into a single, heavy, wall of sonic potency that doesn’t neatly fit into any specific genre.

In short, there is no other band with a sound as brilliantly eccentric and uniquely idiosyncratic as CLUTCH who (over the course of their voluminous thirteen album catalog) have shown the world that all greatness defies the tedious predictability, mediocrity, and conventional wisdom associated with ticking off some predetermined box. Don’t force yourself to fit into someone else’s box. Instead, be more like CLUTCH and create your own box to fit into (and also, go ahead and mark the time while you’re at it).
