It’s October, which means it’s Halloween season and the haunted realm of ghosts & ghouls, werewolves & witches, vampires, goblins & zombies will soon be taking over. It also means a brief review of some classic horror cinema and enough sugar to (quite literally) reanimate the dead.

To properly commemorate the upcoming celebration of All Hallows’ Eve in true black metal fashion, a HEAD-TO-HEAD DEATH MATCH was proposed, featuring MERCYFUL FATE’s first two albums, their 1983 debut Melissa and their 1984 follow up Don’t Break The Oath, both of which are landmark black metal recordings representing the key fundamentals of the genre.

Prepare to hear the happiest intro to a song about witches you’ll ever hear and discover how “35 grams” might be just enough “anti-relaxer” to have a brief but meaningful conversation with John Moschitta.
