Daniel, Shahbaz, & Anthony review Darren Aronofsky's THE WHALE as part of The Movie Podcast's 2022 Toronto International Film Festival coverage. The film is written by Samuel D. Hunter and based on his 2012 play of the same name. The Whale invites us to identify with a man in a precarious state of isolation that has been exacerbated by a potentially lethal mix of technology and our culture of body shaming. It stars Brendan Fraser, Sadie Sink, Hong Chau, Ty Simpkins, and Samantha Morton. The Whale will debut as a Gala Presentation at TIFF at Royal Alexandra Theatre on September 11, 2022 and release theatrically by A24 and Elevation Pictures in December.
