The dinosaur Pentaceratops aquilonius was hiding in a museum for 75 years

Pentaceratops aquilonius was hiding in a Canadian museum for more than 75 years before scientists recognized it as a new dinosaur species. What did they find?

Garrett and Sabrina explore the story behind Pentaceratops aquilonius, including how Dr. Nick Longrich recognized the fossils as a distinct species and how the dinosaur compares with other horned dinosaurs. They explain why so many chasmosaur species lived in different regions, how dinosaurs may have adapted physically to different habitats, and why northern and southern species can look different. The episode also covers dinosaur news from a vandalized dinosaur egg site in Spain, a new aetosaur species discovered in North Carolina, dinosaur sounds from Jurassic Park, a prehistoric park coming to the Calgary Zoo, and a campaign for dinosaur-themed shoes for young girls. The episode closes with the fun fact that Triceratops and Torosaurus were once considered separate species before evidence suggested they were the same.

Dinosaur news, including what animals made the dinosaur sounds in Jurassic Park, the Earl Sinclair Dinosaurs and Notorious B.I.G. mashup, and 70 million year old dinosaur eggs being vandalized in Spain. Also, dinosaur of the day Pentaceratops Aquilonius, a somewhat small ceratopsian related to Triceratops that was recently discovered in a Canadian museum, after being mislabeled for 75 years.
