Are we living too fast for slow music?

Are we living too fast for slower music? have our attention spans been shredded too much to take in bands who would have made the main stage at a festival 20 or 30 years ago? are we just taking in too much negative information to listen to what we consider to negative music anymore within metal? are we just living too fast to take time out with an album to fully absorb it and what part do podcasts themselves play in that?
