Episode 31 - Robert Smalls

This week we cover our first topic for Black History Month. Robert Smalls was an enslaved man working in Charleston Harbor when the American Civil War broke out. On one fateful night he gathered his family, friends and his wits when he attempted and succeeded at stealing a Confederate supply ship which he then sailed north to safety.
