Sony's New PSN Link Requirement Stirs Controversy Among Helldivers 2 Players

Sony has announced that starting May 30, all Helldivers 2 players on Steam will be required to link their accounts to a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, citing safety and security reasons. This sudden mandate, contradicting Sony’s earlier FAQ guidelines which stated PSN login was optional, has sparked significant backlash from the gaming community. Many players are threatening to quit or seek refunds, expressing concerns over privacy and the imposition of unwanted account linkages. Arrowhead's CEO Johan Pilestedt has directed all queries and concerns to PlayStation Support, distancing the studio from the decision-making process. This development has generated widespread frustration and confusion, impacting Sony's relationship with its PC player base.
