This is part 1 of a 2 part series on the intertwined lives Mathew Brady & Alexander Gardner, two of America's most famous photographers. Their journey will culminate in the creation of the Civil War's most enduring images - the exhibition known as "The Dead of Antietam".

In this episode, Mathew Brady & Alexander Gardner will attend to the first (ever) World's Fair in London, meet Abraham Lincoln on the eve of the Civil War, and journey to the front to document the war's first great battle.
