Ep. 18: The Importance of Decarbonising Buildings - SSE

In this episode, I speak with Rob Mitchell, Project Sales Director at SSE. He works within the Smart Buildings division of the company who focus on decarbonising buildings. According to a report from the European Commission, an estimated 75% of Europe's current building stock is considered energy inefficient. We need to act now.

We discuss energy saving, how we procure technology within commercial buildings, interoperability, the traditional construction process, the trade-off between net zero carbon and occupant comfort and whether he believes there are any buildings that are currently achieving operational excellence today.

In his words, "we've got to be brave; we need to find brave clients and show others what is possible".
