What does that have to do with a head injury from a car accident that happened more recently? Everything. That childhood moment set in place a template that Jamie would repeat for years, until a car crashed into her while she was waiting patiently at a red light.

This accident might have been the rude awakening that she needed, and that had been coming since she was a child. And, it potentially could have been avoided.
