John's monologue this time is about SAG-AFTRA, the union representing Hollywood actors and performers, voting to go on strike against major studios. They voted unanimously to join the Writers Guild of America on picket lines. Scripted TV and movie production will cease immediately in the first dual work stoppage by both actors and writers in 63 years. Then he chats with political blogger Heather “Digby” Parton and they discuss Trump and other current politics. Next, attorney Marie in Atlanta and Douglas in Chicago call to talk about the strike. Then, rounding it out, John interviews climate law scholar Rob Verchick, who designed climate-resilience policies in the Obama administration. They discuss the heat wave and his book “The Octopus in the Parking Garage”.
