The New Jersey Devils earned their first win of the 2023-24 season. They narrowly defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-3. It wasn't exactly a good first impression to open up the season, but a win is a win. Jack Hughes had an interesting outing and blew his chance of potentially winning the Lady Byng Award in 2024. Vitek Vanecek was arguably the best player for the Devils.
