In October 2003, 20-year-old Brandon Rumbaugh and 19-year-old Lisa Gurrieri were celebrating a milestone in their relationship. The Scottsdale couple planned a romantic camping trip in the Arizona desert, intending to spend a night under the stars before returning home the next day.But when they failed to return, concern quickly turned into panic.

A search by their friends led to a grim discovery, unraveling a mystery that would haunt the community. What happened to Brandon and Lisa in the remote desert—and who, or what, was responsible?
