Today on the show we have Nina Freudenberger, an interior designer, author, and founder of Freudenberger Design Studio.

Nina is not a fixed interior designer—she loves all aspects of creativity and business. After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA and a Bachelor’s of Architecture, Nina “fell” into interior design. And it’s a career that she feels she well suited for.

In this conversation we talk about how her curiosity in the ways people create their own worlds at home led her to writing her design books, Surf Shack and Bibliostyle. She shares her method for writing her books; how her design style shifted after moving to California from New York; her rules around lighting in the home; the importance of authenticity in materials; and her experience designing two California hotels.
