Given to the priesthood, Samuel grows up a messenger of the Lord, eventually crowning Saul King of Israel, who grows fearful of his power slipping, especially when the ultimate twink David arrives on the scene. From slaying Goliath, pillaging nation states, having a clandestine gay relationship with Saul’s son, and thwarting assassinations by the paranoid king, David proves himself as the newer, sexier leader of the Israelites.
