In 1978, 15-year-old Mary Vincent was brutally attacked by Lawrence Singleton, who picked her up while she was hitchhiking in California, assaulted her, and cut off both of her forearms before leaving her for dead. Remarkably, Mary managed to crawl to safety and survived, later helping to convict Singleton despite his receiving a shockingly light sentence. She went on to become an artist using prosthetic arms and an advocate for victims’ rights, sharing her story to inspire resilience and push for stronger sentencing laws.
