753. LA Diary

The week that was in LA:

• Auditioned for a hemorrhoid cream ad: I was so excited when I got the casting networks email notification. I would be reading for a spin instructor, easy enough. I thought I better google the brand, turns out its hemorrhoid cream. Fun times for me! Still gave it a red hot crack
• Lovely. Do you know the first audition that I got when I moved to LA was an ad for vagina deodorant. I did the audition, didn’t book it, but I still did the audition. I had to play a “fanny godmother” and dress up as a fairy then say “I’m your fanny godmother, and with my want explain and point to body parts as I say its a “whole body deodorant, safe to use on your feet, pits and privates.” In what order I’ll never know, I didn’t get the gig.
• Echo park farmers market on a Friday night no less, things like this make me love LA.
• Wine bar (chilled French red) in echo park, its called Dada
• Silverlake farmers market Saturday morning. Got this amazing dip called “the kitchen sink” dip from the stall called “The Brothers”
• A natural hike with may lovely friend who full sees me here in LA
• TV shows: platonic wit hath Rogan and Rose Byrne
• Song on repeat: Mumford and Sons Babel “Cause I'll know my weakness, know my voice. And I believe in grace and choice. And I know perhaps my heart is fast. But I’ll be born without a mask” - From Babel by Mumford & Sons
• Here’s the thing; LA is beast, it’s wild, woolly, tough, brutal and hard. But in some weird messed up way, it rewards hard work, blood, sweat and tears. And you know what, its been one of those weeks, one of those weeks where the tears have flowed, the hard work has felt like its amounted to nothing, but bizarrely, in a good way, in a letting go, cathartic way. Its time to trust. In myself.
