In August 2021, an entire family went missing after going on a hike in the California Sierra Mountains. All would be found dead, even their dog. Each had apparently died where they were found, with no apparent cause of death. Because the authorities took some time to release an official cause of death, theories online were rampant, and they ranged from poisoning to a lightning strike.
