A Royal Vanishing Act & Does Fashion Hate Women?

A Royal Vanishing Act & Does Fashion Hate Women?

Prince Andrew - the royal problem that just won't go away - has done just that, by giving up his royal titles. So, Amelia Lester and Claire Murphy join our royal correspondent Holly Wainwright to try understand - why now?

Plus, does high fashion actually hate women? From a dress that looks more like a cocoon, to an ensemble that includes a mask covering Kim Kardashian's entire face and a corset so tight your body actually spills out of it, it begs the question, who exactly is buying it?

And, in Gwyneth-adjacent news, a new Netflix series is letting famous people have the last word from beyond the grave. So if you could have the last word, what would you say?

Summer Book Club: Great Big Beautiful Life - Emily Henry

Summer Book Club: Great Big Beautiful Life - Emily Henry

It’s the second episode of our Summer Book Club and this time, we’re diving headfirst into Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry. So then, it was the book that promised joy, mess, meaning and maybe a mild existential spiral — did it deliver? 👀 In this episode, Em V, Jessie and Holly unpack: Why this story hits differently when you read it in summer The characters we wanted to hug… and the ones we wanted to gently shake Big love, big choices and the pressure to live a 'beautiful' life Whether this book is hopeful escapism or a mirror held a little too close And the one question it leaves you asking long after the last page It’s warm, emotional, occasionally unhinged (in a good way) and exactly the kind of book you want to argue about with friends. Read it. Feel things. Then come scream about it with us. Summer Book Club Episode 3 drops on January 25 when we'll be discussing the Melaleuca by Angie Faye Martin. Our Most Talked About Conversations: An Entirely Random List of Things We Deem Offensive

Our Most Talked About Conversations: An Entirely Random List of Things We Deem Offensive

Look, it was random, it was rogue and so... it had to be repeated. This was one of our most talked about subscriber conversations this year so naturally, it made the cut when it came to deciding which episodes we'd bring out from behind the paywall as a little treat for you this summer. Enjoy. A particular flavour of jam. Disintegrating straws. Cutlery chaos. Some things aren’t just annoying — they’re downright offensive. After stumbling across a Substack by Tamsin Amy called Things I Deem Offensive, Em V was inspired to make her own list. Jessie and Holly? Naturally, they already had their grievances locked and loaded. From harsh bathroom lighting to chocolate that lies to your face, the trio have some notes for the world. Pufferfishes unite — consider this episode your official permission slip to complain loudly about the little things. And do we want to hear what gets your hackles up? Hell, yeah. Our Most Talked About Conversations: Open Marriages & The New Kind Of Divorce

Our Most Talked About Conversations: Open Marriages & The New Kind Of Divorce

Open marriages have been quite the topic on the show this year so when we were deciding which shows to bring you as part of Our Most Talked About Conversations summer listening, this episode was a no-brainer. Mindy Kaling recently revealed she chose solo motherhood because she didn't want to compromise on money, career decisions, or parenting choices. She joins a growing number of high-profile women who are reimagining traditional approaches to family, marriage and relationships. We unpack the rise of intentional solo parenting and non-traditional family structures. Plus, everyone's talking about this surprise TV hit of the year (and no, it's not The White Lotus). We discuss why it's capturing everyone's attention. And in our recommendations: jelly beans vs brussels sprouts in an unexpected health showdown, and Mia discovers a soothing video trend that's helping her unwind. The Bondi Stories We’ll Never Forget & How To Be A Good Guest

The Bondi Stories We’ll Never Forget & How To Be A Good Guest

There are names we will never forget from the Bondi attacks. On today's show, Jessie, Holly and Amelia want to honour just a few of the many heroes who risked — and in some cases lost — their lives trying to save others in the worst terror attack ever to happen on Australia's soil. And we want to tell you a little bit about what it feels like in Sydney, and at Bondi at the moment. Not everyone is able to turn their attention elsewhere this week, but for those who can and want to, we're having some other conversations, too. Like, Taylor Swift, Timothee Chalamet and the era of being able to say, "Yeah, I'm pretty good at this" without cringe. And, the power of gathering. Being together has never felt more urgent, but at whose house, and who's bringing the cake? Even if you hate hosting, it's hard to avoid at this time of year and you know what makes it better? Good guests. We tell you how to be one, and Amelia shares a thank-you note rule that impressed us all. A Sunday Evening At Bondi Beach

A Sunday Evening At Bondi Beach

It's not a usual show today, because it's not a usual day. At sunset on Sunday, at Australia's most famous beach, Australia experienced the worst act of terrorism ever to take place on our soil. As the local Jewish community celebrated the beginning of Chanukah, families gathered around food, face-painting and even a petting zoo for an 'everyone is welcome' opening to the Festival Of Lights. And two men opened fire. Some Outlouders will be directly affected by what happened on Sunday. Others will be far removed but asking how this could happen here in Australia, and what they can do to help. Some will just want to talk it over. Today Mia Freedman, Jessie Stephens, Holly Wainwright and Amelia Lester are here to do exactly that.
