Kun iäkäs Ainsworthin pariskunta löytyi kotoaan kuolleena, poliisit epäilivät pariskunnan joutuneen henkirikoksen uhriksi. Myöhemmin tutkintalinja muuttui ja tapaus luokiteltiin laajennetuksi itsemurhaksi. Muutamaa vuotta myöhemmin samasta naapurustosta löytyi samanlaisissa olosuhteissa menehtynyt toinen iäkäs pariskunta.
