Headlines: Croix Bethune to miss rest of season after off-field injury (Soccer 09/05)

The Morning Footy crew react to the devastating news that NWSL rookie-standout Croix Bethune has suffered a season ending injury after throwing out the first pitch at a Washington Nationals baseball game. She just won a Gold Medal at the Olympics with the USWNT and also tied the single-season assists record previously held only by Tobin Heath. With 7 games left in the season, she was bound to break said record and was a shoe-in for Rookie of the Year. A terrible injury not only for Croix, but for the fans of the game as well as the Washington Spirit who currently sit second in the standings and a front runner to win the NWSL title this season.
