Despite women being more empowered than ever before, we still have a long way to go when it comes to cracking the glass ceiling. This is especially true in creative fields. Award-winning author and filmmaker Kailin Gow has been on the frontlines of the women’s empowerment movement for years and can share how she overcame discrimination and harassment, despite the “boys club” mentality of the book and film industries. “Doors were not open to me when I became a pioneer in digital book publishing and an indie female filmmaker,” she says. “Less than 10 percent of directors are female.” Kailin’s key for success is making sure we raise strong daughters. She is the founder of Sparklesoup Inc., an internationally recognized director/filmmaker who has sold over 5.5 million books. Be sure to pick up her book “Raising A Strong Daughter: What Fathers Should Know.” Co-written with her husband, attorney Finlay Gow, she shares how dads can help to empower their daughters in the age of the #MeToo movement, school violence and other challenging life situations young girls experience.
