When the UK went into lockdown in March last year, crime did not stop. When the courts closed temporarily, the backlog of trials began to build up. When they were allowed to reopen, courts rushed to become COVID-safe and ready to function again. But how much longer can the UK criminal justice system function fairly under coronavirus restrictions?
