Popcorn Talk: Disney Changes, New Movies, and Cult Classics

Popcorn Talk: Disney Changes, New Movies, and Cult Classics

In this episode of Birdman on the Mountain, Birdman heads back to White Mountain Entertainment Theaters to hang out with Lanny for a wide-ranging conversation that blends movies, Disney, weather debates, and the magic of seeing films on the big screen.

The two kick things off by talking about changes at Disneyland—including the removal of the classic ticket booths—and why change has always been part of Walt Disney's vision. From there, the conversation drifts into shifting seasons, snowfall memories in the White Mountains, and whether global warming, weather cycles, or just plain bad timing are to blame for the lack of snow.

Then it's lights, camera, action as Lanny breaks down what's currently playing, what's holding strong after the holidays, and what's coming next. From family favorites like Zootopia 2 to blockbusters like Avatar, cult hits, indie films, and new releases such as Greenland 2 and Primate, this episode is packed with insider theater talk. Lanny also shares the behind-the-scenes challenge of bringing requested films like Iron Lung to a small-market theater—and the surprising wins when it works.

The episode wraps with exciting news for movie lovers: a monthly cult classic series kicking off with A Clockwork Orange for just five bucks, future plans involving Pulp Fiction and Mel Brooks favorites, and a reminder of why theaters remain the best place to experience movies the way they were meant to be seen.

A relaxed, funny, and film-loving conversation that feels like chatting in the theater lobby before the previews roll.
