Peak Wellness | How To Breathe For Better Overall Performance

This is our Peak Wellness show where we give specific focus to our health and wellness. The foundation for all we do. In this episode…we talk about breathing. How to breathe. Isn’t that odd. I, like you, figured I knew how. For over 52 years I’ve been breathing air in and continuing to live. I was a pro cyclist and seemed to breathe pretty proficiently. What more do I need to know? Turns out there is a lot to know if we want to be fully functioning. In this show, my great friend and Peak Wellness CoHost, Randy James, Medical Doctor and Functional Medicine expert and owner of truelifemedicine.com and I discuss the message of the book, Breath, by James Nestor. Here is a big hook of the message that may intrigue you as it did me, our nose is not simply for smelling. It is for breathing through. Our mouth is for food. When we use our mouth for breathing instead of our nose, especially at night, there are negative consequences. James Nestor is a journalist who just went to study breathing. When he and another guy spent weeks only breathing through their mouth alone, you’ll be amazed at the negative results. I’ve talked to so many people who have had radical improvements in their lives by working on more breathing through their nose. You’ll learn much in this show and even the simple awareness of correct breathing will benefit you tremendously.
