SleepTech Talk- Episode 43 with Hugi Hilmisson

This week, we meet Hugi Hilmisson with SleepImage. Hugi has been working in the field of sleep research and the development of the SleepImage System for the past 8 years. He has collaborated with multiple teams of researchers assisting them in research using Cardiopulmonary Coupling and other analytics provided by the SleepImage System, publishing over 10 papers in various journals.

SleepImage has a long history in the sleep diagnostic medical device industry and was originally a spinoff from Embla Systems which developed traditional PSG and HST devices with notable products such as the Embletta MPR and the RemLogic software. The CPC module within RemLogic is what became the core of what is now known as the SleepImage System. The SleepImage System was first cleared in 2009 and was later cleared as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) in 2017 and most recently in 2019 it was cleared as a system for diagnosing sleep disordered breathing in addition to the core sleep analysis and the FDA-cleared measure of sleep quality with the “Sleep Quality Index”.
