The Beatitudes...

What is the Sermon on the Mount and why does it matter?

What are the beatitudes? Why is it good to get your head around Matthew 5-7 in the bible?

In this episode, Jonny & Sarah take a look at the Beatitudes generally, and then we will take a deeper dive into a few of the Beatitudes on the next 2 episodes.

They explore and unpack the word and idea of 'Blessed' - a state of being.

One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on themountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, 2 and he began to teach them.

3 “God blesses those who are poor and realise their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
4 God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.
6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for theywill be satisfied.
7 God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.
9 God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.
10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. (NLT)

In 2025 we are Walking Well, thinking about our decision to choose the narrow way. Encouraging each other to find space to grow and have a go to make disciples and serve the city. Understanding how to walk with Jesus and what that means for our heart, soul, mind and strength.Walking Well – We are made to walk in the garden as friends of God. We are made to walk humbly, doing what is right and loving mercy. We are made to walk as children of Light. We are made to walk worthy of the calling we’ve received.
