Prince Andrew was caught off guard when Virginia Roberts (Giuffre) filed her lawsuit in August 2021, accusing him of sexually assaulting her when she was 17 under Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking network. The filing in U.S. federal court blindsided Andrew, who had long denied any involvement and believed that distance from Epstein might shield him.
