Your people-pleasing tendencies are a beautiful adaptation đŸŒș

Recorded on Feb 20 ‘23 Growing up, a lot of us developed people-pleasing tendencies subconsciously because we learned that they helped us survive. Our minds are brilliant, in that they are remarkably adaptive and will do anything to help us survive within the environment we are in. I would invite you to look at the people-pleasing part of you with compassion and see it as a beautiful adaption that helped you survive a challenging childhood dynamic. I invite you to understand that part of you, express gratitude to it for helping you as a child and then gently explain to it that you no longer need it since as an adult you are able to have your own back. You are able to lovingly release it that way, instead of punishing and shooing away that part of you. Also, there might be healthy parts to the people-pleasing you might still want to keep, like being able to attune to other’s needs, only this time you’re not going to consider them at the expense of your own. I love parts work, since it helps us give love and understanding to all parts of ourselves. A much gentler approach to healing. This is the type of work I guide my coaching clients through. Hi, I’m Nirosha 🙂. I am a Certified Life Coach (IAT coach trained by Thais Gibson) who helps people successfully deal with anxiety, pain, grief, loss, burnout & relationship challenges.
