NAATAK in USA - ChaiTime with Rajiv Nema and Mukund Marathe - November 9, 2014

In this show we talk with Rajiv Nema and Mukund Marathe about the upcoming NAATAK production Andhera Hone Tak as well as their journey as part of NAATAK and other bay area theater groups. Andhera Hone Tak is a Hindi adaptation of Frederick Knott’s famous play Wait Until Dark. A twisty piece of suspense, the play focus on a blind woman who is terrorized by thugs. The film version, also titled Wait Until Dark that was released in 1967, had Audrey Hepburn in the lead role. The play is from November 15-23 at Cubberley Theater, Palo Alto, CA. The play will have subtitles in English for non Hindi audience. Mukund Marathe, director of this play, is a theater enthusiast. He has acted in 4 Naatak plays, directed God of Carnage and translated a play from Marathi into Hindi. He is also founder member and President of California Arts Association - CalAA. Mukund is interested in drama, one-act plays and short films. He is associated with California Arts Association - CalAA for more than 12 years and has been following NAATAK since its inception. Rajiv Nema is well known in Bay area theater community. He has been active as an actor here in San Francisco Bay Area and is veteran of 20+ plays, 5 movies, several Industrials, voice-overs, web & video trainings, radio- and live shows hosting, stand-up comedy shows. He is an integral part of NAATAK, and has acted in many of its plays as well as directed a few of them. Rajiv is very popular on YouTube. He is the creator of Rajiv Nema Indori video series on YouTube. His Bollywood debut happened opposite Saif Ali Khan in Love Aaj Kal. NAATAK is the pioneer of Indian theater activities in Bay area. NAATAK, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, is a group of Indian theater enthusiasts in the San Francisco bay area. It was founded in 1995 by students at the University of California, Berkeley, and Stanford University.
