Pastori Matthew Winkler löydettiin ammuttuna kotoaan Selmerin kaupungista Yhdysvalloissa. Melko pian selvisi, että kyseessä oli perheen sisäisen teko ja syyllinen saatiin kiinni. Motiivi teolle jäi kuitenkin epäselväksi, sillä syyttäjällä ja puolustuksella oli hyvin erilainen näkemys siitä, mikä rikokseen oli johtanut.
