Upgrade was directed by Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man, Saw Franchise, Insidious Franchise). To me it was a stylistic sci-fi body horror movie that flew under the radar. It plays out like a better version of the movie Venom and left me in awe in it's ending. Would love for Whannell to pursue more original ideas now that he has struck up a deal with Blumhouse to create more movies but I know he is focusing more on the Universal Monster movies.
