S2 Episode 3 (Part A): ‘The Process is the Outcome’: Restorative Practices in SWHS

S2 Episode 3 (Part A): ‘The Process is the Outcome’: Restorative Practices in SWHS

Crew member Demi, and special guests Jo and Chris engaged in an insightful discussion about the concepts of mediation, restorative justice, restorative engagement and how they tie into restorative practices within a social work and human services context. Jo and Chris touch on how they bring creative ideas and concepts to restorative engagement as an alternative to more dominant approaches within mental health and justice context. They spoke about some of the social work theories that inform restorative practices, and how these approaches can provide survivors some relief from feeling socially isolated in their experiences of suffering. Discussions highlight the limitations of formal justice processes and the use of restorative practices as an alternative. Be sure to listen for the interesting conversation about forgiveness.
