Will Howard Named Starting QB and Big Ten Predictions Part 1

We’re finally back to our weekly football season schedule here at the Silver Bullets Podcast. It’s been a long offseason, but there’s plenty to talk about.

We start with Ohio State’s starter at quarterback. Ryan Day is not going to let the quarterback battle spill into the regular season in 2024, as he has named Will Howard his guy to lead the offense. We discuss the ramifications of that decision and how we expect that to inform the OSU attack for the upcoming year.

Howard wasn’t the only player making news since our last show. The Buckeyes have named four captains for the 2024 campaign as well. We talk about whether the right or wrong choices were made both in the personnel involved and the number. We also have a new recipient of the Block O jersey and we feel like it’s a good choice.

Several more Buckeyes shed their black stripes and are now “official.” Kourt Williams was forced to take a medical retirement from the game, which is the unfortunate news in this episode. We wish Williams the best of luck in the next step of his journey.

Finally, we take a look at the bottom of the Big Ten. We can’t do our usual divisional ranking predictions this season, as there are divisions in the conference no longer. With 18 teams to rank, it would make for quite a long episode to go from bottom to top, so we’re starting at the bottom and rating the teams that we think will finish in positions 10 through 18 in the Big Ten. Next week, we’ll finish things up by making our bold picks for the teams that will finish in the conference’s top nine positions. As always, feel free to tell us what you think we got right or wrong.
