Episode 74 - The 1898 Wilmington Coup & Massacre

In honor of Black History Month, Michelle tells us about a pivotal but relatively unknown moment in U.S. history - the 1898 Wilmington Coup and Massacre. These events were lead by a group of white supremacists set on removing Black Men from public office and taking away their right to vote in North Carolina. These feelings of hate and racism lead to the first and only coup d’etat in U.S. history.
