He studied oenology and viticulture at the University of Florence, and later gained a Master's degree in Oenology from the University of Bordeaux. He started his career by working at Denis Dubourdieu Domaines for two years. Virginie, her husband Max and her son Basile were studying in Bordeaux at that time. Max shared with me that Dean Denis had strongly recommended them to hire Matteo. Matteo joined Avignonesi in 2011. His wife Mina is running their family winery Fattoria Sardi, in Lucca, Tuscany.
