Welcome to Episode 1739 on another episode of “On The Road Edition”, hosted by Stevie Kim. In Today’s episode, Stevie sits down with Italian Wine Ambassadors Elena Barattini, Erin DeMara, Juliana Colangelo and Fanny Breuil to recap the Gita Scolastica - VIA deep dive into the Marche wine region held last year, November 15th to 19th. More about Italian Wine Podcast Listen to Elena Barattini talking about the warm welcome we got at Istituto Marchigiano Tutela Vini located in Jesi, Ancona, where its President Michele Bernetti and director Alberto Mazzoni held a masterclass regarding the 16 DOC and 4 DOCG of the area. This was followed by a quick tour of the city with aperitivo downtown, ending up having dinner based on white truffle, a fine and precious delicacy from the area, prepared by chef Elis Marchetti and his staff at the Istituto. Day 2 was dedicated to Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi right bank and Verdicchio di Matelica, both age-worthy white wines – don’t miss Erin DeMara’s complete summary. Juliana Colangelo sums up day 3 that was packed: wine tasting in the morning, digging deep into Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi left bank, where she found more consistency in the wines and more fruit concentration compared to the ones of the right bank of the Esino river; delicious lunch by Max Santoni cuoco at Sartarelli; more tastings in the afternoon dedicated to Lacrima di Morro d’Alba wines and producers at Filodivino, where dinner was served at the end of the tasting. Last but not least, on day 4 we drove to Conero DOCG area to get familiar with Montepulciano driven red wines from the region and also with the upcoming new denomination all about Rosè wines. After a typical lunch, a tour guide took us sightseeing the beautiful historic city of Ancona. But let’s our Ambassador Fanny Breuil tell you something more about that!
