Heavy Menstrual Bleeding & Blood Disorders with Patricia Huguelet, MD and Genevieve Moyer, MD (S5: E13)

Many young women and adolescents experience heavy or abnormal menstrual cycles. Typically, if a cycle lasts longer than 8 days, it is considered abnormal. Some other abnormalities include bleeding that occurs more than every three weeks and cycles that require one to change products every hour or less during menstruation. These symptoms can also cause fatigue, dizziness, or other signs of anemia. In today’s episode, we are going to unpack and inform providers on how to best support young women in their practices that have abnormal menstrual cycles.

Dr. Huguelet is the Section Chief for the Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and the Fellowship Program Director at Children’s hospital Colorado. Dr. Moyer is part of the Hematology/ Oncology internal Medicine team at Children’s and is also an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Both Dr. Huguelet and Dr. Moyer run the “Spots and Dots Clinic” here at Children’s.
