68) ADHD awareness month

This month, let's dive deep into the world of ADHD—what it really means, the stigma surrounding the label, and the often-misunderstood path to diagnosis and treatment.

In this episode, Maren and Eva sit down to unpack the stigma attached to ADHD, backed by scientific insights. They share their personal experiences navigating the diagnosis and treatment process in the Netherlands, shedding light on the challenges parents face in understanding and addressing ADHD.

While we made efforts to involve key professionals in this discussion, the sensitive nature of medical care in the Netherlands prevented us from having a specialist on the show. Instead, this episode highlights a personal journey—one example of the many diverse experiences individuals go through when seeking an ADHD diagnosis.

What you’ll gain from this episode:

Understanding the science behind ADHD and how the stigma still affects those diagnosed.

Navigating the ADHD diagnosis journey in the Netherlands, with tips for parents and caregivers.

Personal insights into the emotional and practical aspects of seeking a diagnosis and treatment options.

Challenging the misconceptions around ADHD and opening up the conversation to break down stigma.

This episode is crucial for anyone who has been affected by ADHD, whether personally or within their family. It provides a unique perspective on what it’s like to seek help in a foreign country and offers hope for those who feel isolated in their journey.

Tune in for an honest and vulnerable conversation about ADHD diagnosis, ADHD stigma, and parenting with ADHD in the Netherlands.
