This lemur has evolved to fill the same niche as a woodpecker, tapping trees to find hidden grubs with its elongated middle finger — a feeding behavior found nowhere else on Earth. Sadly, the Aye-aye’s ghostly reputation has made it a target of superstition and fear, and deforestation continues to threaten its fragile home.
