Torrey Pines -rannalla Kaliforniassa tapahtuneet murhat olivat pitkään mysteeri San Diegon poliisissa. Samankaltainen tekotapa oli kuitenkin saanut poliisin vakuuttumaan, että murhilla oli sama tekijä. Kymmeniä vuosia myöhemmin DNA tarjosi toiseen murhaan vastauksia ja tapauksen tutkijat uskoivat, että juttu on selvitetty. DNA-tuloksiin liittyi kuitenkin epäselvyyksiä ja kysymyksiä, joihin ei vieläkään ole saatu vastauksia.
