Episode 18 - Pride Allies

In this special Pride Month episode, we dive deep into what it truly means to be an ally for the LGBTQ+ community. As a queer-representing family, we share our personal stories and experiences, highlighting the importance of allyship and how it impacts the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals. We begin by defining allyship and exploring the various forms it can take, from active to passive. We discuss the crucial role allies play in supporting and advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, using their privilege to amplify marginalized voices, and committing to continuous learning and unlearning. Our conversation then turns practical as we outline concrete ways to be a good ally. From educating oneself about LGBTQ+ issues and history, listening and learning from LGBTQ+ voices, to speaking up against discrimination and showing up at Pride events, we provide actionable steps for listeners to take.
