The Three Miracles at the Wedding of Cana

The Three Miracles . . . This Gospel story, from St. John, is an example that could be a danger to us spiritually. Why? Because often, we think we know the Gospel story, and we causally glance over it. We do not spend the time to let the Holy Spirit penetrate us and help us Spiritually. Hear more in the Homily. The Wedding of Cana has many interesting verses, especially the first and the last verse within this Gospel. St. John begins the story with these words. There was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the Mother of Jesus was there . . . This reading is a story of a wedding in Cana. But before that, it is a story about something that happens when the Mother of Jesus is present. It is scripture that instructs us about when Our Lady is present. It tells us of her role and what happens when she is present. And, it is important to focus on this fact; it might be missed because of our general familiarity of the Gospel story. Listen to more within the Homily. . . . at the Wedding of Cana The end of the passage is also curious. Jesus worked this as the beginning of His signs . . . and His disciples began to believe in Him. It is the beginning of His public ministry. This Gospel is more than the miracle of water transformed into wine. Everything that happens is also at the service of the Lord revealing His Glory, so that His disciples begin to believe in Him. Hear more within the Homily.
